Colosseo technologies enhance Ferris wheel attraction in Gdansk

An unconventional application of Colosseo technology has been unveiled in Gdansk, Poland.

Amber Sky Gdansk is one of the attractions that draws visitors to this port city in northern Poland. This 50-metre-high Ferris wheel received a new upgrade in 2023 in the form of a circular LED screen by Colosseo.

The LED screen has a circular shape with a diameter of 5 metres and is mounted in a combined aluminium and steel structure. The screen is composed of a 0,5 x 1,0 m LED cabinets with the pixel pitch of 10.42 mm. The physical resolution of the screen is 480 x 480 pixels.

This kind of interesting visual enhancement is another example of the unconventional use of Colosseo solutions and their variability and wide application.

Colosseo basketball equipment fulfils the standards specified in the latest edition of the FIBA Approval Programme for Basketball Equipment.

Colosseo has repeatedly met all FIBA standards necessary for awarding the Certificate of Approval for basketball equipment in the “Scoreboards and Videoboard Software” category and passed the technical test again.

The certification covers the company’s flagship – multimedia content management and publishing software COLOSSEO Single Media Platform, COLOSSEO Timer and the popular basketball accessories – COLOSSEO Shot Clocks.

All products are certified for the competition Level 1 which includes FIBA national team and club competitions plus another elite level national and national team competitions, and the competition Level 2 which includes any other competitions not included in Level 1.

KHL video goal judge technical regulations upgrades

With the start of the 2019/2020 season, major changes were adopted related to the increase in the number of video cameras used to review controversial moments during the game.

According to the latest regulations update, effective February 1, 2020, all KHL hockey arenas must be equipped with four HD (High Definition) video cameras with 1080i or 1080p resolution with a frame rate of no less than 50 fps (frames per second).

The cameras must be installed in such a way that the entire ice rink area, including the protective nets behind the boards, penalty benches, team benches and timekeeper booths, are within the field of view of the cameras. Each camera follows a quarter of the playing area (two cameras per half the rink).
